Karios Prison Ministry
The Kairos Prison Ministry began in 1976 at Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida in 1976. Today this ministry operates in 32 states and 9 different countries. The word 'kairos' means 'God's time'. The Kairos Prison Ministry seeks to bring Christ to those in prison and their families outside. Twice every year volunteers go into prisons for a weekend and pray for inmates, teach them about Jesus Christ, and help build a support group for their fellow Christians in prison. In the Diocese of Western Kansas the Kairos team ministers at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility in Hutchinson, Kansas. If you are interested in this ministry you can visit the Kairos Prison Ministry website or contact the diocesan office.
If you wish to contribute financially to the work of Kairos please contact the diocesan office. It costs $150 per volunteer/inmate for one weekend.
